Tramadol HCl ,Sustained release system ,Natural and Synthetic Polymers ,

The aim of the present study was to develop sustained release formulation of Tramadol Hydrochloride to maintain constant therapeutic levels of the drug for over 24hrs. By using different ratios of synthetic polymers like Ethyl cellulose, Eudragit RL100, Natural polymers like Moringa gum and Tamarind gum were employed as polymers. All the formulations were passed various physicochemical evaluation parameters and they were found to be within limits. Whereas from the dissolution studies it was evident that the formulation (F11) showed better and desired drug release pattern i.e., 100.6% in 24 hours. It contains the Tamarind gum 1:2 ratio as sustained release material. It followed Higuchi release kinetics mechanism.
